VRA Foundation Announces 2021-2022 Internship Award Recipient

The Visual Resources Association Foundation (VRAF) Board of Directors is pleased to announce the 2021-2022 VRAF Internship Award in visual resources and image management. This award is being generously funded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. Andrew Weymouth, a graduate student in the University of Washington’s MLIS program, is the recipient of the VRA Foundation’s Internship Award. He will receive $3,000 to work a minimum of 200 hours on a project for the Tacoma Public Library’s Northwest Room. Andrew’s work will involve the organization, description, and digitization of selected photographic negatives and prints from the vast Richards Photography Studio Collection, which was acquired by the library in 1989.  This collection,…

This internship is generously funded by the Samuel H. Kress Foundation. The VRAF Internship Award provides financial support for graduate students and recent graduates preparing for a career in visual resources and image management. June 7, 2021   The Board of Directors of the Visual Resources Association Foundation (VRAF) is pleased to present the 2021 VRAF Project Grant in the amount of $3000 to Jaime Fogel, Director, Arthur Vining Davis Library & Archives at Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium in Sarasota, Florida. The funds from the project grant will allow for documentation and evaluation of nearly 1500 films in a variety for formats. The top 75 assets — those of greatest historical value and those most at risk of degradation — will be selected for digitization. The Visual Resources Association Foundation (VRAF) is pleased to announce registration is now live for Python for Beginners with instructor Maneesha Sane of The Carpentries, a project which teaches foundational coding and data science skills to researchers worldwide, and co-organizer of the Philadelphia Python Users Group. This grant program supports projects which reflect the VRA Foundation’s mission to advance education, research, and outreach in the field of visual resources and image management.    A single grant is available during the spring 2021 cycle with up to $3000 to be awarded.
