The purpose of the SEI is to provide information professionals with valuable training and education in the area of visual resources and image management. Under the direction of the Executive Boards of the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) and the Visual Resources Association Foundation (VRAF), the Implementation Team (IT) is charged as the management group for the Summer Educational Institute (SEI) providing or coordinating administration, local arrangements, registration, scheduling, fundraising, publicity, curriculum, instruction and teaching materials.
The Visual Resources Association Foundation (VRAF) announces that the Cataloging Cultural Objects (CCO) data content standard for the cultural heritage community, is now under the auspices of the Visual Resources Association (VRA). Formerly sponsored by VRAF, CCO activities centered on educational efforts to promote widespread acceptance of cataloging best practices for the visual resources, museum, library, and archival communities. Under VRA’s newly formed Cataloging and Metadata Standards Committee (CaMS), the CCO Subcommittee will continue these activities and oversee the standard. The CCO Subcommittee is currently upgrading web resources, developing training videos, and reviewing cataloging examples.
